We spoke to Comtec Translations’ Senior Project Solutions Manager, Sarah Eames, about the project and how they found working with ATCC since receiving their ISO certification with us.

Why did you choose to become ISO Certified?

We chose to become ISO Certified in order to demonstrate to our stakeholders the rigour in our quality procedures and compliance with an internationally recognised standard. We wanted to demonstrate to our customers and suppliers that quality is one of the most important pillars of our work at Comtec, by having a process which provides impartial scrutiny of our quality procedures. We use the certification and audit process as a tool for continuous improvement.

How did you find the process with ATC Certification?

Helpful and supportive. We undertook a gap analysis to identify where further work was needed on our procedures and through the yearly audits, we are continuously improving our systems and processes.

Why did you choose ATC Certification?

The ATC is the leading Association within our industry. As long-standing members of the ATC, it made sense for us to use the ATC certification services.

How long did it take you to prepare for certification?

We were already certified to the more general ISO 9001 standard, which made the process easier. We then focused on the procedures under ISO 27001 which related specifically to the quality control of translations.

Would you recommend becoming certified with ATC Certification to other companies in the language services industry?

Yes, we would highly recommend ATC Certification to other companies. We felt well supported by the ATC, because assessors had a good understanding of our industry, which is not always the case with other accreditation bodies.  If we had any queries about the process, these were immediately addressed. Overall, it was a pleasant and professional experience. We also really like the fact that we can schedule re-certification and surveillance audits as soon as the previous ones are complete.
