Have Your Say: ISO 17100 Update Survey Now Open

As the global benchmark for translation services, ISO 17100:2015 – Translation Services – Requirements defines the core processes, qualifications, and other requirements necessary for the delivery of quality translation services. It’s the umbrella standard that underpins trust and consistency in the translation industry.

But standards don’t stand still—and neither should we.

ISO 17100 Update Underway: Your Input Matters

The official ISO 17100 Update process is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025, and in preparation, the ISO Technical Committee responsible—ISO TC37/SC5/WG1—has launched a public survey to collect feedback from those who know the standard best: language service providers (LSPs), translators, and other industry stakeholders.

Whether you’re a certified LSP, an in-house compliance lead, or a freelance translator familiar with the requirements of ISO 17100, this is your chance to shape the future of translation services worldwide.

About the Survey

  • Hosted on the European Commission’s free online survey platform
  • 15 questions, with space for optional free-text feedback
  • Takes just 5 to 15 minutes to complete
  • Completely anonymous – unless you choose to share your email for follow-up
  • Closes on 18 April 2025

Why the ISO 17100 Update Matters

The ISO 17100 standard has been instrumental in defining quality across the translation supply chain, from pre-production to delivery and post-project feedback. As the language services landscape evolves—driven by automation, AI, and shifting client expectations—this update is a timely opportunity to ensure the standard remains relevant and effective.

For certified organisations, early engagement in the revision process helps to:

  • Stay ahead of upcoming changes
  • Influence key areas of the standard that affect day-to-day operations
  • Prepare teams and processes for future compliance requirements
