Interpro Translation Solutions was founded in 1995 with a goal to provide unparalleled quality and service to companies that wish to offer multilingual versions of their products, services, and content to their target audience. Interpro was founded by Ralph Strozza, and the company is owned and managed by a small group of dedicated language professionals who have been actively involved in the translation, localisation, and interpretation industry starting in the early 1980s.
They are a professional translation and interpretation company entirely focused on the linguistic needs of their clients. They are technically oriented, with excellent knowledge of software, websites, e-Learning and training programs, voiceover recording, manuals, marketing content, documentation, graphics, as well as the issues involved in localising them.
They have always firmly believed that trained, professional talent using the most effective technology will produce a quality product. Interpro continuously invests in advanced translation and ancillary tools necessary to ensure terminology and style consistency, to achieve volume and revision efficiencies, and to leverage legacy materials. By blending state-of-the-art technology with the expertise of human translation and interpretation professionals, they offer their clients an unbeatable formula for translating content cost effectively, efficiently, and with the high level of quality expected.
We spoke to Ralph Strozza, CEO of Interpro Translations Solutions, about their certification journey with ATCC.
Why did you choose to become ISO Certified?
“As the founder, majority shareholder, and CEO of Interpro Translations Solutions, my objective has always been since the very beginning to strive to deliver quality to our clients. Not only quality in terms of translated content, but quality throughout the entire translation supply chain:
- responsiveness to requests
- detail and transparency in the quotation process
- seamless project execution with minimal – or no – defects
- delivery when promised
- invoices reflecting the quoted cost
- appropriate follow-up by Interpro staff
Having been in business since 1995, we already had in place established processes for almost everything we do. What was lacking was documented evidence of most of our processes, and a clear path toward continuous improvement of said processes.
I began the journey toward 9001 and 17100 certifications in September (2020) when I downloaded and read both of the standards. It was after having read these that I realized how much work we actually needed to do to get our house in order, and to really be able to state that we were a quality-oriented organization. To be fair, we always did emphasize quality, but I knew that if we were able to achieve 9001 and 17100 certifications, we would be “putting our money where our mouths were”. What better way to demonstrate to our clients, prospects, and employees how deeply committed we were to quality and continuous improvement?”
How did you find the process with ATC Certification?
“The staff at ATC Certification couldn’t have been more professional, proactive, and responsive to our requests. The entire process proceeded like clockwork, from the first email inquiry I sent through to our Stage 2 Audit and certification. I absolutely love working this way!”
Why did you choose ATC Certification?
“When I decided it was time to get serious about ISO certification, I interviewed three certification bodies. Critically important to me was the level of experience with the certifications we were interested in. Of the three organizations interviewed, ATC Certification was the only one who had demonstrable experience and in-depth knowledge about the 17100 standard for Translation Services. Equally important to me was the responsiveness to my inquiries. After initial conversations with two of the organisations, there was no follow-up to my requests for additional information. I had asked one of them to provide details concerning their experience in certifying to 17100. Crickets. Another of the organizations told me they would produce all of our process documentation and would get us certified in less than 3 months! Credibility ZERO. ATC was very transparent about what they would do, how they would do it, and what it would cost, and was extremely responsive in all communications. In addition to being the most knowledgeable resource, they were by far the most ethical.”
How long did it take you to prepare for certification?
“We were under no time constraints to get certified, and wanted to take our time in order to do it right. As such, we engaged the services of an ISO consultant who was put in contact with us through ATC, and began the process in earnest in November, 2020. We received our certifications on June 25, 2021, so the entire process took approximately 7 months. It is worthwhile to note that we did not have a full-time resource dedicated to our ISO certification initiative. The process had to compete with the requirements of running an active translation and interpretation business.”
Would you recommend becoming certified with ATC Certification to other companies in the language services industry?
“This is an easy answer: ABSOLUTELY. I cannot imagine how a certification body inexperienced with the language services industry could have possibly certified us to the 17100 standard. Our ATC auditor, with decades of language industry knowledge and ISO expertise under his belt, knew exactly what he was doing and what he was looking for. Having in-depth expertise and experience about every aspect of a TSP’s business really made the difference. I simply cannot imagine going through an audit with someone who had limited knowledge about what it takes to deliver quality language and related services.
In my opinion, ATC Certification is – hands down – the gold standard for language industry organizations interested in pursuing ISO certification.”
